Massage Therapy consists mainly of a hands-on manipulation of the soft tissues of the body. Muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments, and joints are manipulated for the purpose of optimizing health. Treatments can have a therapeutic effect on the body and can optimize health and well-being by acting on the muscular, nervous and circulatory systems. Physical function can be developed, maintained, and improved through treatments. Physical dysfunction and pain along with the effects of stress can be relieved or prevented through the use of Massage therapy.
In Manitoba the minimum entry to practice education of over 2200 hours of instruction including two years of academic and practical/clinical education is required to become a part of an association where you are then referred to as Registered.
